The date is almost here for me to present, actually for all my colleagues here in EDU 412 to present. I am sure we will all do very well. So far my plan was to bring my laptop and demonstrate a small presentation with the group gathering plus handouts. In my meeting I will have two parents present, teacher, nurse, parent coordinator, social worker, and assistant principal present. My topic is on parent involvement with lack in healthy snacks during snack time in a Special Education Classroom (parents in this classroom provide the snack, since snack is not funded for children in special education). I am nervous to present, but in the other hand my work colleagues are very supportive. Do you think I should use a screen projector when presenting for a better overview? Do you think I can make a poster presentation (or is that to antique)? Colleagues what ideas or specific resources you think can help me when presenting to a group of 7 totals?
My presentation is based on healthy and nutritionist topics for parents, if you guys have suggestions or are aware of good links and resources than can be helpful for parents and my team in our school building we will definitely appreciate it if you can share. I will definitely add it to my list of resources that I will be handing out to our two parents in our building.
I think this link will help all of us in presenting our advocate action plan. I found this link to be beneficial and helpful. It’s based on how to make presentations be effective. I thought I would share this with you all, but I think having feedback from my colleague’s perspective will help me gather useful information.
Stay focus on what you believe in!!!

Thanks for the date reminder; as if I could forget it. Lol. You know I did not really count the number of people that I would be to because I gave personal invitations; sort of opening it up to anyone interested. I think I will make modifications to my actual number of presentation participants for my own comfort and then try using them to help me further pass the information on.
ReplyDeleteI checked out the link that you shared to help us with our presentation. Thanks for that info. I am glad that I read it as it suggest not using reading from notecards; something I thought was ok and I had planned on using to help me remember all points that I wanted to tough on. I will have to do more memorizing huh?
I am using www.e-leads.org/presents to help with presentations as well; you might want to check it out. Good luck to you in your presentation!

Hi Ana,
ReplyDeleteI think that if you have a long table to sit around you could probably just use the laptop. I lucked out that one of my old feild study teacher's is loaning me a projector. If you have an early childhood resource center around they may let your learning center borrow one. I think the best notes to read would be from your laptop and make sure you can read it freom far away if you are just using the laptop with out the projector.
I think ythat if you want to use a poster that would be great but remeber it is a small group. and you womn't want to do too much. I want to give a hand out on a flyer so that they are set on my research topic and I was going to play a game in the beginning I have a musicakl noite musical game. I have to see what they all act like when they come in.

Ana,
ReplyDeleteI think with 7 people at your presentation, a projector would be best. You can also print off your slides for them to jot down notes or input. Using a poster would be ok. The bottom line is that you should do a few trial runs before the presentation and use whatever delivery method that you feel most comfortable with. You don't want to be more nervous than necessary!

I think you computer will be fine as long as there are handouts they can read along with. I would just make sure the seating is appropriate. You may want to set out some healthy snacks too, since it goes with your subject and all. I would not do a poster, just put wjat ever info that would have been in the handouts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the website. I think you are going to do well!
